VEENENDAAL (29 March, 2017) – A regular contender in the series since the earliest days, Dutch team Ekris Motorsport will again be on the grid when the Competition102 GT4 European Series gets its 2017 season underway at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this weekend. The team will be running one Ekris M4 GT4 for two Dutch drivers, series’ stalwart Ricardo van der Ende and newcomer Max Koebolt, who acquired a lot of experience racing in different GT series in the past two years. “It goes without saying that the title is our goal for this year, even though we know that this is an ambitious one, given the strong level of competition,” team owner, Dick van Ekris says. “With Ricardo and Max, we have a driver pairing with a lot of potential and we have improved our Ekris M4 GT4 to make it an even more competitive package, so we are really confident for the upcoming season.”
The Ekris M4 GT4, developed by Ekris Motorsport, had its first full season in competition last year and raced successfully in the GT4 European Series. Based on the experience acquired in the car’s maiden season, improvements were made on the durability and performance of the braking system. Further modifications were made to the aerodynamics and the handling of the car.
Next to Ekris Motorsport’s commitment to the Northern Cup, a pair of Ekris M4 GT4s will be running in the Southern Cup under the banner of BMW Team France. Ekris Motorsport is also working on plans to contest selected rounds of the Southern Cup in order to become a contender for outright honours in the Competition102 GT4 European Cup. Further information about this will follow in due course. “First of all, our focus is on this weekend’s opening round at Misano, we are really looking forward to go racing again,” Dick van Ekris says.
